Boston Trip

To celebrate our 15th anniversary, we went to Boston. While there, we had a great time going on tours of the city, a whale watch, and a trip to Salem.

Touring Boston

We started our trip with a tour of the city on a hop-on/hop-off bus. We were surprised by how much fun we had, and it turned out to be a great way to see the city.

Boston Tea Party

As part of the city tour bundle, we got to go on the Boston Tea Party tour. They had live actors that got the crowd riled up in a mock town meeting before we stormed out to one of the two ships they had in the harbor. Once there, we were given the opportunity to angrily toss boxes into the harbor. After that, we went into the museum where we got to see the only remaining box from the ship. Then it was off to the tea shop where we could try out tea that was meant to be a recreation of what the tea would have been like back then. The whole experience was a ton of fun… even if the tea tasted pretty gross.

Whale Watch

During the trip, we went on our first whale watching tour. The tour took us about an hour, straight east of Boston. Once there, we got to spend about two hours at an area that has a shallow sea floor, which makes it a perfect spot for watching the whales. We were completely shocked by the number of whales we got to see. We have tons and tons of pictures, but most of them look the same as the ones we are including here. The whales we saw that day were all humpback whales. We also had a couple of seals float by. The whales were mostly a bunch of moms that had their babies with them.

Whale Wave

When it was time to head back to Boston, one of the whales was nice enough to wave goodbye.

Salem

For our last day, we went on a day trip to Salem. We took a ferry to get there, and we went on a walking tour once we arrived. It’s a very interesting place with such a strange mix of very sad locations right next to multiple Halloween stores. We were there in the off-season, which meant there weren’t too many crowds. The tour was great and it really helped, since a lot of the historic locations had been destroyed long ago and all that was left were plaques.
